OSSC AmeriCorps Position
Street Yoga is searching for a dedicated, part-time Volunteer Coordinator
Have you been interested in Street Yoga before, but didn't know how to get involved? Are you involved now, but wish for more resposibility? This may be just the path for you!
You would be responsible for the following:
1. Teach weekly Yoga classes.
2. Recruit, support and evaluate volunteers.
3. Attend peer support meetings.
4. Attend all Street Yoga Teacher training workshops and any professional development opportunities offered throughout the year.
5. Attend wellness workshops.
6. Develop a yoga and mindfulness curriculum for young children.
7. Complete general office duties related to position (mailings, filing, phone calls, community fairs and outreach activities, etc.); limited to 10%.
8. Complete and submit in a timely manner all OSSC/AmeriCorps required reports and time sheets.
9. Attend OSSC/AmeriCorps sponsored orientation, trainings, meetings and disaster response.
As a part-time AmeriCorps member you would receive an education award of $2,362.50 and a taxable monthly stipend of $518. Beyond these benefits, all members have the opportunity to gain skills, take on leadership roles, work with partners, and build networks.

AmeriCorps is a National Service movement with roots in the Peace Corps and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). AmeriCorps provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with an opportunity to address pressing community needs by completing a year of service. In exchange for their service, AmeriCorps members receive a small living allowance and an education award.
The Oregon State Service Corps (OSSC) is a statewide AmeriCorps program that provides nonprofits, community and faith-based organizations, government agencies and schools with the opportunity to sponsor an AmeriCorps member. AmeriCorps members placed at these organizations (called placement sites) address significant issues in the areas of education, homeland security, public safety and human needs through direct service and volunteer mobilization. OSSC strives for geographic diversity in its portfolio of sites, including placement at small community and faith-based organizations.
