The New York State Office of Children and Family Services

The Lineage Project

Mission:
Our mission is to support at-risk & incarcerated youth, their families & communities, by offering yoga, meditation and other awareness-based practices. We are called Lineage Project because we believe that we all share the same Lineage: the lineage of the heart, and that wisdom teachings must continue to be passed down from one generation to the next.
Description:

The Lineage Project teaches at-risk and incarcerated New York City teenagers awareness-based practices, such as yoga and meditation, to help consciously manage stress, increase self-awareness, and cultivate compassion and commitment to nonviolent engagement with their communities.
We conduct our program in collaboration with local community- based organizations, schools, and New York City and State detention facilities. Our current community partners include, The New York State Office of Children and Family Services, The New York City Department of Juvenile Justice and The Jewish Board of Children and Family Services.
